Pacific Salmon

Leaping up the freshwater waterways of the Northwest in the spring, Pacific Salmon is perhaps the best known of all Puget Sound fish and Alaskan seafood. It has a reputation for being the quintessential fish of Native Americans and European settlers, who cook it using traditional preparations: smoked, barbecued, boiled with lemon, etc. The versatile flavor of its pretty pink flesh makes Pacific Salmon delicious no matter how you prepare it, and healthy seafood recipes for the different varieties of Pacific Salmon abound.
We offer several varieties of fresh Pacific Salmon from our online seafood store, including:
  • Alaska King Salmon (Chinook Salmon)
  • Coho Salmon
  • Keta Salmon
  • Sockeye Salmon
  • Smoked Salmon
Fun Fact: Salmon use the moon as well as a keen sense of smell to find their way back home to the stream or river in which they were born.

Whitefish  (White Fish)

White fish is a low-fat choice that is still high in protein, making it a popular choice for a healthy diet. The livers of white fish also abound in nutritious oils, which constitute many fish oil supplements. Round or flat in shape, the various species of white fish typically live along the sea floor in the Atlantic Ocean, as well as in the Arctic, where they can be fished sustainably.
Made popular in Great Britain as the main fish in “Fish n Chips,” white fish meat is lighter and flakier than most other fish. It therefore lends itself well to preparations that use sauces, oils, or citrus juices. Of course, there are other seafood recipes for white fish that are just as delicious. Baked, pan-fried, or boiled, this fish makes a healthy and tasty entrée.
We offer several varieties of fresh White Fish from our online seafood store, including:
  • Halibut
  • True Cod
  • Ling Cod
  • Black Cod
  • Dover Sole
Fun Fact: The oldest Halibut ever found was more than 40 years old!

Shellfish

Shellfish are not fish; they are crustaceans, mollusks, and echinoderms that are labeled as shellfish for the exoskeletons they wear. Popular shellfish include lobster, crab, and shrimp. Many varieties of shellfish are high in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, both of which have health benefits for metabolism, the heart, the eyes, and the brain.
Shellfish generally have a subtle, delicate flavor that makes them an attractive staple for cooking around the world. They can be grilled, fried, baked, broiled, or steamed … the list goes on and on. Delicious preparations also abound: they can be seasoned with salt and pepper, drizzled with lemon, or steeped in olive oil—whatever taste suits you. They can even serve as bases for stews and soups.
